Payment Methods

The Municipality of Crowsnest Pass accepts payments via:

  • Internet Banking - Utilities and Taxes
  • By mail (cheques - do not send cash in the mail)
  • In-Person at the Municipal Office: debit, cash and cheque only after August 6.
  • Payments by select credit cards through the secure OptionPay System (with applicable third party fees) for certain services

Setting up your accounts for Internet Banking

When adding your account, search the payee list for "Crowsnest" and select the appropriate service:

Property Taxes are paid to "Municipality of Crowsnest Pass PROPERTY TAX"
Your SEVEN-digit tax roll number is on your Property Tax Notice. Enter the tax roll number as it appears - without spaces. You may have to enter an extra zero at the beginning or the end of the number, depending on your bank's requirements.

Utility Bills are paid to "Municipality of Crowsnest Pass UTILITIES"
Enter your utility account number without the decimal. If you are prompted for additional digits, enter leading zeros. For example, if your account number is 215704.02, and you are asked for a nine digit number, enter 021570402

Please make sure you pay the correct payee and account!

Setting up your accounts for OptionPay

You can pay the following bills with OptionPay: 
Property Taxes, Utility Bills, Accounts Receivable and Business Licenses, Permits and Municipal Violation Tags.

In order to make payments online, you will require numbers from your invoice, email or permit. Choose the service type below for instructions on how to find these details.

 

Please make sure you select the correct department and enter the correct account!

Property Tax Payments

Once you are in OptionPay, select Property Taxes from the Payment Type dropdown.
Your SEVEN-digit tax roll number is on your Property Tax Notice (shown highlighted on the sample). Enter the tax roll number as it appears - without spaces.

Utility Payments

Once you are in OptionPay, select Utility Bills from the Payment Type dropdown. 
Enter your utility account number without the decimal (shown highlighted on the sample).

Accounts Receivable

Once you are in OptionPay, select Accounts Receivable from the Payment Type dropdown.
Enter your Customer number (shown highlighted on the sample).
If you are prompted for additional digits, enter leading zeros. For example, if your account number is 123456, and you are asked for an eight digit number, enter 00123456

Business License Payments

Once you are in OptionPay, select Business Licenses from the Payment Type dropdown.
Enter your Customer number (shown highlighted on the sample).
If you are prompted for additional digits, enter leading zeros. For example, if your account number is 123456, and you are asked for an eight digit number, enter 00123456

Development and Building Permits

Once you are in OptionPay, select Development and Building Permits from the Payment Type dropdown.

Building Permits arrive in an email from The Inspections Group, and Development Permits arrive in an email from the Municipality.

You will find your permit number in the email header and/or the subject line, and the amount due is in the email itself (shown highlighted in the attached sample). 

Gas, Plumbing and Electrical Permits

Once you are in OptionPay, select Permits from the Payment Type dropdown.

Enter your permit number from the top right corner of your Permit (shown highlighted on sample) The amount due is in the lower left hand corner (highlighted on sample).

Municipal Violation Fines

Once you are in OptionPay, select Municipal Violation Tags from the Payment Type dropdown.

Enter your tag number from the lower left corner of your Tag (shown highlighted on sample). There are two payment options: the fine amount or the early payment option (highlighted on sample). PLEASE NOTE: The early payment option is only applicable for certain contraventions, and only if paid within ten days of the date of contravention.

What is OptionPay?

Is there an added fee for using OptionPay to pay my MCNP bills with my credit card?

Yes All transactions carried out through OptionPay follow a tiered schedule, starting at a minimum fee of $2.00. To see the full fee schedule for using this payment option, please visit their fee schedule here.

Why is there an added fee to pay with credit card?

The fees are administered through the Option Pay program for the use of their service, and not through the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass.

Is my credit card and personal information secure with this program?

OptionPay provides information on their security measures here. Please note that the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass takes no responsibility for, and accepts no liability, in the event of security breaches, technical difficulty, or other issues that may arise from your use for OptionPay.
