Payment Methods

The Municipality of Crowsnest Pass accepts payments via:

  • Mail
  • In-Person at the Municipal Office
  • Online Payments by Visa/Mastercard Visa and Debit Cards
  • Financial Institutions
  • Online (Internet) or Telephone Banking
  • Pre-authorized Payment Plan

All payments will be received by the Municipality within 48 business hours, so please be sure to allow this processing time when making your payment. Also, make sure you know your daily and/or transaction processing limit when making credit card payments. Credit card Rewards are earned on entire purchase, including fees.

Mail

Mail: Mail payment to Municipality of Crowsnest Pass, Box 600, Crowsnest Pass, AB T0K 0E0.

Please allow sufficient time for payment to reach the office before the penalty date indicated on the statement.

In-Person at the Municipal Office

In-Person at the Municipal Office: Payments by cash, cheque, and debit can be made during business hours from 8:30 - 4:30 pm.  Night deposit is also available (no cash accepted in the night deposit).  All cheques must be payable to the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass. Cheques are conditional payment until honoured. Penalties will apply for any dishonoured payment.

OptionPay is also available for credit/debit card payment at the front desk. 

Online Payments by Visa/Mastercard Debit or Credit Cards

Through OptionPay, our third-party payment processor, for a nominal processing fee you can make card payment through our website using the "MAKE A PAYMENT" link, on your smart phone by scanning the QR Code on the website, available at the  municipal front desk and outside on the door. All processing fees are charged by OptionPay and are not received by the Municipality.

What is OptionPay?

OptionPay is a payment card system the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass uses for its online credit/debit card transactions. You can find out more information about OptionPay by visiting their website here.

Is there an added fee for using OptionPay to pay my MCNP bills with my credit card?

Yes All transactions carried out through OptionPay follow a tiered schedule, starting at a minimum fee of $2.00. To see the full fee schedule for using this payment option, please visit their fee schedule here.

Why is there an added fee to pay with credit card?

The fees are administered through the Option Pay program for the use of their service, and not through the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass.

Is my credit card and personal information secure with this program?

OptionPay provides information on their security measures here. Please note that the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass takes no responsibility for, and accepts no liability, in the event of security breaches, technical difficulty, or other issues that may arise from your use for OptionPay. All users accept responsibility for their use of this service and do so at their own risk.

Financial Institutions

Financial Institutions: Payment can be made directly at most chartered banks, trust companies, credit unions and Alberta Treasury Branches.

You will require your account number to complete the transaction. Please refer to the Locate Your Account Number section below to view the most frequent invoices. 

Online (Internet) or Telephone Banking

From your financial institution's online banking site, locate the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass as the Payee. Please note that the Payee name may be entered differently depending on the bank, using a broad search such as 'crowsnest' tends to work best. 

Once the Payee has been selected, choose the account type (utilities or taxes) and enter your account number as shown on your invoice. For guidance on how to find your account number, please see the drop down list below. 

Contact your bank if you have any difficulties.  Please note that most banks can take up to three days for processing.

Pre-authorized Payment Plans

Pre-authorized Payment Plan: Pre-authorized payment plans are available on a monthly basis for both Property Taxes and Utilities.  Please contact the Tax & Utility Department at 403-562-8833.

Locating Your Account and Bill Payment Information

Find Your Account

Please review the section below for information on how to find your account or customer number required to make a payment. To view a sample, click on the link for each type.

Property Taxes

Your SEVEN-digit tax roll number is on your Property Tax Notice . Enter the tax roll number as it appears - without spaces.

Utilities (Water, Sewer, Garbage and Recycling)

Enter your utility account number without the decimal.

Accounts Receivable 

Enter your Customer number.

Business Licenses

Enter your Customer number.

Development Permit Fees

Development Permit Fees arrive in an email from The Inspections Group and are paid directly to the Municipality.

You will find your permit number in the email header and/or the subject line, and the amount due is in the email itself.. 

Building and Private Sewage Permit Fees

Building and Private Sewage Permits arrive in an email from The Inspections Group and are paid directly to the Municipality.

Electrical, Gas, and Plumbing Permit Fees

Electrical, Gas, and Plumbing Permit fees are assigned directly at the Municipal Office and will be required to pay the fees on application submission or a request will be emailed if the application is sent in electronically. 

Enter your permit number from the top right corner of your Permit. The amount due is in the lower left hand corner.

Municipal Violation Tags

Enter the Municipal Tag Information found on the bottom of your violation tag.
